New Patient Evaluation

Butler, Wayne, Kinnelon, & West Milford, New Jersey

Providing a new patient with optimal service first requires a comprehensive evaluation, thorough examination and informed diagnosis. The first step is an interview, which allows us to better understand your health history and primary reasons for seeking out our practice and expertise. Among the basic questions we ask are: Where are you now, and where would you like to be at some time in the future? Are you happy with your present aesthetics, with the comfort and function of your mouth? Would you like to improve your smile? Eliminate a full or partial denture? Would you like the peace of mind of knowing that you will keep your teeth for the rest of your life?

Next, we conduct a thorough examination, which assesses all of the elements of form, function and aesthetics. Depending on the case, this can include indicated x-rays and photos, a set of diagnostic study models, an evaluation of the teeth and occlusion (bite relationship), a full periodontal assessment and an evaluation of muscle and joint function. Over the many years we have been practicing dentistry, we have found this very thorough preliminary examination to be an essential tool in providing our patients with optimal care.

Following an integration of all of these diagnostic materials, a consultation appointment allows us to leisurely and thoroughly review your present situation and to help you clarify for yourself how your preferred future feels—and what it looks like. You might be interested in pursuing a more preventive, holistic orientation to your health. You may have aesthetic or health concerns relative to certain metals in your mouth. You may have a history of progressive breakdown or loss of teeth, and are now concerned about the effect this might have on your health and appearance. You might be approaching retirement and feel the desire to reverse the effects of aging, brighten your smile, or seek the confidence and peace of mind that accompanies a healthy and properly restored mouth. Or you may be interested in smile enhancement, the “instant orthodontics” that porcelain laminates can offer, or the life changing non surgical “neuromuscular facelift.”

Whichever of these scenarios best describes your personal experience, we are here to help you achieve the optimal form, function and aesthetics that will improve your life, health and appearance .
